Hello and welcome back for the new 2017-2018 season
Hello and welcome back for the new 2017-2018 season , firstly I hope all the new U8 managers are enjoying their first taste of football with their new teams and secondly I hope everybody else is under way now and they have enjoyed the summer break !
As you are all aware some haven’t stopped during the closed season and of course your inbox has been regularly updated by our Secretary David Wands with what we need to be doing to keep the club compliant. So thank you David, Paula and Chris over the summer with all your hard work getting the club over the line.
Hopefully nearly everyone has collected their replacement footballs and the U8’s are on their way to playing in new kit.
It looks like our U13 & U14 teams are having issues with the Schools District teams at the moment with large numbers from Petersfield Jnrs being picked to represent Havant District. Over the last few years this seems to have grown from when I was involved as a parent into another ‘Football League ‘ and for those managers with players involved it has made the start to the season a nightmare , coupled with some coaches approaching players to go to another club this has started communication between PTJ , Hampshire Schools and Hampsire FA . This also calls into question the change on Sunday football moving to Saturdays in my opinion .
This looks like it is going to become one of our ‘Season Pains’ but we will have to be positive and hopefully resolve if we can , I have already offered TPS on a week night to Hampshire Schools FA to play games midweek but this appears to be a problem as well !
Moving on to Penns and Love Lane , if you have been to the pavilion this week you will have noticed that our new mobile goals have arrived for Penns . This will allow us to manage the goal mouths like we have on the first team pitch over the last two seasons and will give us flexibility to put an additional fourth 9v9 pitch across an 11v11 pitch if we need to.
Nige G has been busy in the pavilion over the summer continually clearing up and posting notices about where everything should go and keeping it tidy and with all your help we can and with that please ensure that all our rubbish is collected pitchside and put in a bin .
On our AFC side we are fielding Ladies , Mens and of course our Youth team and this is the first season we have played in the top division of Hampshire Youth so as a Chairman and parent I’m extremely proud of not only our Youth team but every boy and girl that pulls on our colours , so remember Play Hard , Play Fair but most of all Enjoy . We are #Onebigfootballfamily.
Good Luck Nick
